30 Rosenfeld Palace

Rosenfeld Palace. The City Palace, named after its owner, Žilina banker Ignác Rosenfeld, was built in 1907 by the architect Nicoletto Rauter in the Art Nouveau style as a bank headquarters and a private residential residence. Ignác Rosenfeld was the director of the Slovak Savings and Loan Institution and the chairman of the Jewish religious community in Žilina. After the death of the Rosenfelds, the palace was the seat of several banks until the end of the 1950s. Then the building was used as a Pioneer House, later as the District House of Pioneers and Youth and the Spektrum Leisure Time Centre. After a major renovation that restored the monument to its original form, the palace was opened to the public in September 2016 as a new cultural institution.
