The wooden two-storey bell tower in the style of folk architecture dates back to 1770. It was made using a combined technique of log and post construction. It has a square ground plan and an ihlen shape, which tapers slightly towards the top. The bell tower stands on a stone plinth on which a log foundation is laid. Its wooden walls are clad with shingles at the bottom and boards at the top. The roof is made of wooden shingles and there is a wooden cross on the top. The entrance door is on the north side of the belfry and above it is a small roof made of two rows of shingles. The height of the bell tower is just over seven metres and there is a bell inside. The bell tower stands almost in the middle of the settlement and forms the boundary between upper and lower Vlkolínec. It used to divide the inhabitants into "Nižňans and Vyšňans". It is one of the landmarks of Vlkolínec and can be said to have become a symbol of the settlement. It is also the oldest building in the settlement. In the past, its ringing was used to announce important events - for example, a fire, other danger, a funeral or a religious service. It also served as a timekeeper, as it was rung three times a day - morning, noon and evening. The bell tower is a National Historic Landmark and stands in the Vernacular Building Preserve in front of House No. 9050-9051. A small model of the bell tower is also located in the school-museum, where it serves as a collection box for voluntary contributions from visitors.
