Swing over Necpalmi

Swinging over Necpalmi. "The most beautiful view of Turiec is from the swing above Necpali." This was the motto of the festive day on 8 October 2022, when a huge swing was set in motion for the first time on the hill above the village. It was built by the municipality of Necpaly in cooperation with the Turiec Regional Tourism Organisation. At the opening ceremony there were fairy tale characters from the Turčianske kingdom of bees and clear water - the queen bee Medulka the First, the waterman Čľapko, the fairy Vodomila and the fairy Rosička. The ribbon was ceremoniously cut by the mayor of Necpál Peter Majko, Dalibor Steindl and Jozef Krištoffy from the regional tourism organisation, together with the contractor Pavel Šuták. This act brought the swing into life as part of the project Benches of Turiec. The project leader Dalibor Steindl expressed his joy that the idea met with a great response and gradually not only municipalities but also various institutions are involved in its implementation. One of them is also the Turčianska Water Company Foundation. The aim of the initiative is to promote the Turiec region and create attractive places that will attract visitors. The swing above Necpali is also a stop on the thematic route through the Turčiansky Kingdom of Bees and Clear Water, which runs through the foothills of Veľká Fatra. The view from this large swing is truly unique. In the distance we can see Krivanská Mala Fatra in front of us, on the left the Lúčanská part of Mala Fatra with Martinské hory and on the right the mountains of Veľká Fatra. And just below the hill we have the whole village of Necpaly in the palm of our hand. This village was already inhabited in the Bronze Age. Its rich history is reflected in four manor houses and several historical and cultural monuments. Among them, the rare baroque altar called Speculum lustifications, which is the main feature of the evangelical church, stands out. The altar was commissioned by Count Juraj Turzo in 1611 for the chapel at Orava Castle. In 1752, the altar was transferred to the wooden articular church in Necpaloch and from there to the present stone church, built in 1840. Another historical monument is the ancient, early Gothic church of St. Ladislav, which was built in the middle of the thirteenth century. Apart from its picturesque location on a hill, its most precious decoration are the preserved frescoes in the sanctuary and even in the attic of the church. The history of Necpál and its surroundings can also be recalled in a private museum with a unique atmosphere. Among the natural treasures, it is worth mentioning the ancient yew tree that grows near the Renaissance manor house almost in the centre of the village. Since its inception, the swing above Necpali has become a venue for various events and gatherings. For example, it was here that at the end of the Turčianske Medobranie and Vodosláva event, the Janska Vatra was lit. But above all, the swing is a place of relaxation for all Turks and visitors who want to enjoy the tranquillity, the beauty of the surroundings and the exceptional view. Probably the most beautiful moments here are when the landscape below you sinks into silence in the early evening and the sun slowly sets behind the ridge of Mala Fatra.
