In the district of Turčianske Teplice, near the village of Budiš, there is a publicly accessible spring of famous mineral water. This water is known for its excellent taste and high quality. It was discovered as early as 1573. The discoverer was a naturalist and Benedictine monk named Nicholas Brikcius.
Budišské springs are also mentioned by the first Slovak historian Matej Bel in a Latin work entitled 'Známosti Uhorska' (Familiarities of Hungary). This was published in 1723. Matej Bel describes the beneficial effects of these waters on the digestive tract, specifically on the stomach and liver. He also mentions other positive effects of these waters on human health.
Until the middle of the 20th century, mineral water flowed spontaneously in the marshy areas of Budiš.
The natural mineral water from this spring is moderately mineralised. The water is of the hydrogen-carbonate-sulphate, magnesium, sodium-calcic, carbonate, hypotonic type. It is slightly acidic to neutral.
It has excellent effects on digestive problems. It helps in faster absorption of calcium into the human body and also counteracts allergies.
Its refreshing taste and beneficial effects on the whole organism are the result of the untouched nature and the valley in which the spring is located. These natural conditions have created an ideal environment for the creation of this exceptional mineral water.
The spring is located under a shelter, in a naturally beautiful setting. The surrounding area is overgrown with rich vegetation, typical of waterlogged soil. On the eastern side, the scenery is closed by the mountainous mountains of Veľká Fatra.
The spring is freely accessible to the public. Both local inhabitants and visitors from the surrounding area come to draw quality mineral water from it.
This pleasant place also includes 2 benches. You can sit on them, take a sip of the natural mineral water and enjoy the peaceful and refreshing atmosphere that this place offers.
