Benches in the Spa Park of Fame. In Turčianske Teplice there is one of the oldest and largest spa parks in Slovakia. It was planted in 1848 as a park avenue that stretched from the spa courtyard to Dolná Štubňa. There were also greenhouses and a house for a gardener. Gradually, various foreign trees were added. It was also enlivened by a fountain. Today the park is a national cultural monument with many rare trees. It covers an area of approximately eighteen hectares. It is decorated with various attractions, such as figures formed from living plants. The biggest attraction, however, are the benches. Original and imaginative. You can relax on unusual benches such as the folklore bench, the drunken bench, the giant bench, the quarrel bench, the sad and happy smiley benches or the folk bench. You might even be able to get to the Highland bench. Famous personalities have christened their benches here, for example Jozef Bednárik, who has a director's bench, and Mário Radačovský with a ballet bench. You will also find benches of other famous names, such as Michael Jackson or Patrick Swayze. And since the park is called the Park of Fame, benches of other famous people will be added gradually. In addition to these, there are of course also regular benches in the park where you can relax while you walk around. In the hot summer months, you will especially appreciate those that stand on the banks of the Teplica River, also known locally as the Žarnovica River. It flows through the whole park, irrigating and refreshing, and in summer it cools down the surrounding environment. If you want to get over the river from one bank to the other, wooden footbridges, small bridges will serve you.
