A little square

Listen to the guide

The town of Krupina has had a Little and a Big square for centuries. Apparently, since the Middle Ages, markets have been held here. It was the second most important public space in the town, around which the houses of Slovaks have been clustered since the Middle Ages. During the anti-Turkish wars, the suburb was surrounded by a fortification with three gates and a water bastion. Until World War II, the Kltipoch River flowed along the top of the square. Since 1957 the square has been dominated by a grandstand. Today, the small square is a centre of trade and services.
