Museum of Transport

Rajecké Teplice

Listen to the guide

In the building of the railway station in Rajecké Teplice, a museum has been created, which brings closer the development of transport in Slovakia from ancient times to the present day. The idea to create such a museum was conceived in the 1960s, but it was not until 2014 that it took shape. Transport played an important role on the local line between Žilina and Rajc, and therefore a large part of the exhibits is connected to this region. Visitors will see a historic trackmaster's stage coach, equipment from transport offices or period uniforms. Children will be particularly interested in the model railway, which they can also play with. The exhibition is divided into three parts - road and water transport in its historical development, railway technology and models, and finally motor transport, including historic motorcycles. The museum also regularly comes alive with special events - for example, rides of historical trains on the Žilina - Rajec line. This is a joint project of the Považský Museum and transport enthusiasts, which combines fun, knowledge and a piece of history.
