Museum of Jewish Culture. In the premises of the former women's section of the Orthodox synagogue, the Jewish Religious Community in Žilina, in cooperation with the Slovak National Museum - Museum of Jewish Culture, has established a permanent exposition of Judaica. Ritual and sacred objects, archival materials, Torahs and textiles related to the Žilina region are displayed here. Rare exhibits include a handwritten Book of the Law (Sefer Torah) and prayer chains (tfilin). A wooden grid separates the exhibition hall from the prayer room itself, through which the visitor can see the spatial arrangement of the prayer room. The museum was opened on 30 June 1996. From the exhibition of Judaica one can learn more about the culture and life of the Jews, who in the past formed an important part of the population of Žilina.
