Fire House

Martin

Listen to the guide

It is said that Turiec is the cradle of firefighting in Slovakia - it was here that the call for the establishment of fire brigades is said to have originated. The region took it responsibly and by 1918, 50 voluntary fire brigades were established here! Several of them still exist today and that is why the Fire House in Martin still has its significance. So if you are looking for a place that has become the true home of Slovak firefighters, visit this house. It was started to be built in 1928 and since 1958 it has been the seat of the Professional School of Voluntary Fire Protection.
