Mudrone House

Martin

Listen to the guide

Near the first building of the Slovak Matica there is a house where the founding member and secretary of the Slovak Matica, Pavol Mudroň, lived. He was one of the leaders of the Slovak national movement. This house became an important centre of Slovak culture and you can still feel the spirit of the most important Slovak nationalists who often came here. The editorial office of the National Newspaper and the magazine Hlásnik was located here. Thanks to several renovations, this house from 1882 is a place you should not miss when visiting Martin.
