State Real Gymnasium - Gymnázium V. P. Tóth
Martin
Listen to the guide
Since its foundation in 1867, this gymnasium has held a prominent place among secondary schools in Slovakia. It is one of the three oldest grammar schools in the country. At the time of its foundation it had twenty classrooms, a gymnasium and rooms where pupils from the countryside lived. The building has not changed its scientific and educational mission even after many years - today it houses a bilingual grammar school and is named after the Slovak politician, poet and publicist Viliam Paulíny-Tóth. A little tip: when you visit, don't miss the observatory, which was built next to the gymnasium in 1998 and is also open to the public.
