Škultéty's villa

The memorial house stands on a street named after its then owner, a well-known Slovak national figure. Jozef Škultéty ran important Slovak newspapers - Slovenské pohľady and Národné noviny. He became an important Slovak linguist and publicist. As a lifelong administrator of the Slovak Matrix, he led it for more than twenty years, thus actively developing Slovak culture. He produced an extensive literary output that defended the Slovak nation against oppression by other ethnic groups - his selection alone comprises seven volumes! The House of Jozef Škultéty is a national cultural monument.
