Stefanik Institute

Martin

Listen to the guide

The building, which today houses the secondary medical school, was once an institute named after perhaps the greatest Slovak - astronomer, scientist, politician, diplomat and statesman Milan Rastislav Štefánik. If you want to get to know the official architecture of the first Czechoslovak Republic, head to this magnificent building, which was started in 1923 and completed in three years! The main entrance from the city centre is via a monumental stone staircase, and you'll approach the building through a pleasant, landscaped garden.
