Listen to the guide
The history of the town of Martin is inextricably linked with literary creation, books and printing. And thanks to this museum, you can get acquainted with this long and extraordinary history. You will learn about the history of Slovak writing from the 8th century to the First World War. You will find, for example, a copy of the medieval table at which thousands of medieval monks sat while transcribing books, as well as rare books and the printing press of the Levoča letterpress printer Brewer from 1668, on which important prints were printed. In the exhibition you will also find original works of Slovak artists and their personal objects.
