City Castle - Barbican

Banská Bystrica

Listen to the guide

Banská Bystrica was one of the most strategically important cities in Hungary. The town castle was built on the hill where important trade routes of the Via Magna once crossed. The site also included a parish church and several defensive towers. The town castle, together with the historic centre of Banská Bystrica, was declared a Municipal Monument Reserve in 1955.
