Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier

On the main square in Banská Bystrica, the two-towered church of St. Francis Xavier attracts the attention of visitors. The first written mention of the place on which it stands dates back to 1503. On the original site stood a house, which housed a chapel. The church itself was completed in 1715. It has been the cathedral church and the main church of the Banská Bystrica diocese for more than two hundred years.
