In the first half of the 19th century the house was owned by Ondrej Braxatoris, an evangelical teacher and organist and one of the first historians of the town. He and his two wives brought up 12 children in this house. The first was Karol Braxatoris, later a poet of Stura, the next Daniel Braxatoris a surveyor and later a postal clerk in Dudince. The most prominent of them is Andrej Sládkovič the famous poet, author of the immortal poem Marína and Detvan.
