Svätotrojičný stĺp

Krupina

Listen to the guide

In the middle of the 18th century, the townspeople of Krupina commissioned a plague sculpture for the main square from the Kremnica sculptor Dionýz Ignác Staneti. It was the first in a series of large plague columns that were later erected in nearby mining towns. The saints depicted on the column were supposed to protect the town from fire, plague, hail and from all evil. The Trinity Column was repaired several times and eventually the sculptures were replaced with contemporary copies.
